Be sure to have the following supply:
- balloon
- paraffin or candle wax
- a wick

Procedure:

- Make a water balloon by fill the balloon with water.
- Secure the top of the balloon.
- Melt the wax using a double boiler or an old saucepan or an old electric skillet.
- Keep the wax between 165 and 185 degrees until fully melted.
- Let the wax cool until it is just about to set.
- Dip the water balloon in the melted wax and pull it out quickly.
- Let the thin layer of wax on the balloon cool and set.
- Dip the water balloon in the wax again, and let that layer of wax set.
- Continue until you have a nice wax shell around the balloon, about 1 cm thick.
- You can use several different colors if desired, alternating colors as you dip.
- Pop the balloon and remove it from the center of the candle.
- Slowly add warm wax to the inside of the shell, rolling the wax around the edges until it covers the interior.
- When you get to the last pour, place a wick in the center and pour the warm wax around it.
- Hold the wick in place until the wax cools enough to support it.

Preparation and willingness are the traits needed if you want to learn how to make candles at home. These traits do not only speak of your persistence and discipline but it also determines the scope of your skill as a candle maker. While these qualities seem hard-hitting to deal with, you have to keep in mind that making a candle is all about ability. It takes practice and time before one can perfect the knack of candle making.

Knowing the basics of making scented candles is easy. In fact, with the help of websites and online resource sites, you can easily find relative instructions or sources of candle making kits. Starter kits, for one, are helpful if you want to learn how to make candles at home. These kits are also very practical since you do not have to find your materials elsewhere.

Since this hobby is potentially lucrative, the best way to start your endeavor is through following these tips and suggestions. First, knowing how to make candles at home always starts with the availability of raw materials. These include paraffin wax, wicks, wick holders, thermometer, double boiler and pouring pots. You may also need glass jars, that is if you are about to make container candles. Also, you will be needing items such as pencil, scissors, dye, fragrance oil and glue gun.

Worrying over feasible sources of these supplies? Do not fuss as you can easily avail them in any local craft store or online shop. Container candles maybe very basic but these candles are the easiest to make. All you need to do is:

•	Affix the wick into the container. Make sure each wick is kept really straight.
•	Set up your wax. Break up wax bars using a hammer.
•	Place wax pieces in the double boiler. Fill the bottom pot with half full of water. Bring to a boil. Cautiously place the pot filled with wax pieces and let it melt.
•	Affix your thermometer to guarantee that the right amount of temperature is maintained. Remember to melt your wax over medium heat.
•	Wait till you reach 190 degrees and stir the mixture but not overdo it. You can now add your chosen dye then simmer the colored wax mixture for another 30 minutes.
•	Add in your desired scent.

Decant the melted wax mixture into glass jars or containers and then let it cool for about six hours.
As a first timer who wants to know how to make candles at home, it is necessary to constantly practice and try doing small batches of candles. Do not try to produce large quantities of candles. Besides, you need to maximize your money by purchasing a suitable amount of supplies and materials. It is also best if you will seek advice from friends, particularly ones that share this interest. Do not be indecisive to ask for tips and tricks as this will help you in improving your skills candle making.
