Candle is one of the sources of light and sometimes a source of heat, it consists of a solid block of fuel commonly wax and an embedded wick. Today most candles are made from paraffin; it can also be made from beeswax, soy and other plant waxes.
Candles and oil lamps were used for illumination before electricity was discovered. Today, candles are used mainly for their aesthetic value and scent, particularly to set a soft, warm or romantic ambience and for emergency lighting during electrical power failures.
